Lake Magadi Adventures, Sept 2016

When your alarm goes off at 5:15AM and you open your eyes to darkness and 10 degree weather, you better hope that whatever you’re waking up for is worth it! Luckily for me, Thursday 7th September was definitely worth the early morning.

The girls and I packed up the van with our cool box full of wine & our basket full of snacks and set off at 6:15 for a 3 hour journey to Magadi. Blankets in toe, we drove to a beautiful (and appropriately named) corner near Ngong town called Corner Baridi (Baridi means cold in Swahili) to have our breakfast. Overlooking stunning hills and valleys, we sat on chairs made of tyres and drank our tea. The perfect way to start the day!

After breakfast (and a quick photo shoot) we hopped back in to the van and headed towards Magadi Town. The bumps & potholes in the road were less than desirable but 2 and a half hours later we arrived in Magadi. After having a quick change of clothes at the country club, we picked up our guide and set off to the hot springs/picnic site where we would be having out lunch.

Once we had a quick dip in the stunning hot springs and gave ourselves a natural (And more importantly, free) spa treatment it was time to jump right back in to the van and start the journey back to reality. The second bottle of wine was popped open and drank at lightening speed, closesly followed by all of us blacking out for roughly 2 hours? Wine + heat + a moving car = a good long nap. Aaaand 3 hours later we were back in Nairobi and sadly the trip had come to an end.

I hope you guys are all having adventures of your own! Comment below and let me know!

Sending you lots of good vibes,

-D
