Hello beautiful people,
On Saturday 2nd August, after a week of celebrating gay pride week, the streets of Amsterdam were filled with the colours of the gay flag and plastered with pink at every turn to celebrate the 2014 Amsterdam gay parade. An absolutely beautiful sight to say the very least. Happiness and acceptance were the themes of the day as the gay community in the Netherlands and all over the world came together to celebrate gay pride. Over 60 boats and floats sailed down the canal that was surrounded by thousands of people who came to watch the beautiful parade, me being one of them.
This was one amazing day. To see all the people who came out to support the gay community on their special day and of course the effort put into making the boats look absolutely spectacular..I must commend all the people who helped out before and on the day for their tremendous efforts. I was truly impressed. Unfortunately the day was cut short very abruptly by a storm that showered over the streets of Amsterdam, forcing everyone to retreat into the nearest shop or bar for shelter. None the less, the Amsterdam gay parade 2014 was certainly an event to remember. This is one event that I will certainly be returning to, year after year and I advise anyone who lives in Amsterdam or happens to be there in early August to go to the gay parade! You won’t regret it 🙂
Sending you lots of good vibes,
